We are qualified picture framers trained in traditional conservation methods. We are always considering the appropriate measures we will take to ensure the longevity and prevention of degradation to your artwork, and we are sensitive to the way specific mediums might interact with certain elements overtime.

We use industry specific archival materials such as 100% cotton rag mount boards which are buffered with calcium carbonate to prevent acidic damage, clay-coated and acid free backing boards and we supply a range of conservation glass options.

We have a strong focus toward good design, sustainability and craftsmanship, and every frame we make by hand using only natural, non-toxic stains and finishes.

Our timber is mostly locally sourced and FSC certified, otherwise it is reclaimed and repurposed on rotation, allowing us to feature one-off runs of a beautiful hardwood such as cherry, or Sydney spotted gum.

We don't aim to produce large runs of 'ready-made' frames, or mimic factory framing by a long shot. We are small-scale on purpose.

For us it means more intention within our craft, lighter impact and deeper connection to every material we touch. We love exploring the use of natural timber finishes and traditional joinery applications wherever possible. Every frame is one of a kind, made with love, just like the piece it's made to hold.

We offer a broad range of services, such as:

  • canvas stretching and framing

  • archival dry-mounting

  • exhibition framing

  • acrylic boxes / object framing

  • aluminium frames

  • textile mounting and framing (rugs, embroideries, weaves)

  • specialised joinery, timber finishes and detail specific designs

We collaborate with artists, galleries, collectors and interior designers and are sensitive to your vision, budget, exhibit of the work and approach to the project at hand.

Icon Frames acknowledges that we are on the traditional, unceded land of the Boonwurrung and Wurundjeri people and offer our respects to the elders past and present. We recognise and respect the cultural heritage of this land.
